William Shakespeare(1564-1616)

Слайд 21Biography
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon (County Warwickshire) in 1564,

baptized April 26, the exact date of birth is unknown. Tradition attributes his appearance to the world by April 23: this date coincides with the precisely known date of his death. In addition, April 23 marks the day of St. George, the patron saint of England, and by this day the tradition could specifically timed the birth of the greatest national poet. From English, the name "Shakespeare" translates as "a stunning spear".
His father, John Shakespeare (1530-1601), was a wealthy artisan (glover), often elected to various meaningful public positions. In 1565, John Shakespeare was an alderman, and in 1568 - bali (head of the city council). He did not attend church services, for which he paid large monetary fines (it is possible that he was a secret Catholic).
Shakespeare's mother, born Mary Arden (1537-1608), belonged to one of the oldest Saxon families. In total, the couple had 8 children, William was born the third.
It is believed that Shakespeare studied in the Stratford grammar school, where he was to receive good knowledge in Latin: a Stratford teacher of Latin and literature wrote poetry in Latin. Some scholars claim that Shakespeare attended the school of King Edward VI (English) Russian. In Stratford-upon-Avon, where he studied the works of such poets as Ovid and Plaut, but school journals have not survived, and now nothing can be said for certain.

Слайд 22Shakespeare’s Love
William and Ann married in November 1582, when he was

18 years old, and she was 26. In the parish book of Bishop of Worcester, a record dated November 28, 1582, was preserved with the bail of two witnesses about the legality of the marriage between Shakespeare and Hathaway. At the time of marriage, Ann was pregnant with Suzanne's eldest daughter, who was born in 1583 (a record of baptism on May 26 of the same year). In 1585 Ann gave birth to William the twins - Hamnet and Judith. Son Hamnet died at the age of 11 in 1596, and both daughters survived his father, as did Anne herself.

Those lips that Love's own hand did make Breathed forth the sound that said 'I hate‘ To me that languish'd for her sake; But when she saw my woeful state, Straight in her heart did mercy come, Chiding that tongue that ever sweet Was used in giving gentle doom, And taught it thus anew to greet: 'I hate' she altered with an end, That follow'd it as gentle day Doth follow night, who like a fiend From heaven to hell is flown away; 'I hate' from hate away she threw, And saved my life, saying 'not you'

Слайд 23Shakespeare’s Tragedies
"King Lear" (1605-1606). The tale of King Lear

and his daughters is one of the oldest legends of Britain. For the first time their literary processing was done by the English chronicler Jeffrey of Monmouth in his Latin "History of Britain" (1135). Subsequently, the retelling of the legend, already in English, occurs in many poetic chronicles: from the Liamon poem "Brutus" (about 1200) to the famous "Chronicles" R. Kholin-shed (1577), which were the source of many Shakespearean stories. Some details are taken by Shakespeare from the poem of Edmund Spencer "The Fairy Queen" (1590),

Othello (1604). Representing a very accurate transcription of the novel by Ji-Ralphi Cintio "Venetian Moor" from his collection of "One Hundred Stories" (1566), which became famous Shakespeare, most likely in someone's retelling or in an English translation that has not come down to us (Italian Shakespeare is not Knew), Shakespeare's tragedy nevertheless in the main is radically different from its original source.

Researchers of Shakespeare's art assert that in the history of art there is no other example of such a persistent and long-lasting popularity of the play than the popularity of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Almost three hundred years, this tragedy belongs to scenes of theaters around the world. And every generation, people of different nationalities, are looking for answers to the question that concern them. The secret of such a constant interest in tragedy is in the philosophical depth and humanistic inspiration of this work, in the skill of Shakespeare the Dramaturg, who embodied human problems in artistic images.

Shakespeare’s Tragedies

Слайд 24Romeo&Juliet
The name of William Shakespeare has been known to the world

literature for several centuries. One of his most famous works is "Romeo and Juliet". This tragedy was written in 1596. Despite the fact that William Shakespeare is an English playwright, the actions of "Romeo and Juliet" unfold in Italy, in Verona and Mantua.  We all know the plot of this tragedy from childhood. But this work can not be felt, understood, if you do not read it from beginning to end. The senseless long-standing hostility between the families of Montague and Capulets hampers the love of Romeo and Juliet. Lovers belong to different clans, they can not be together. But love is stronger than all obstacles, and only it can put an end to the hostility of two powerful families:
Each other's children love the leaders,
But fate fixes on them machinations,
And their death at the death door
He puts an end to irreconcilable discord.
Because of the endless hostility of these clans, not only lovers suffer, but also other people close to them. «Love and night live with the instinct of the blind.» ©Juliet

Music to hear, why hear'st thou music sadly? Sweets with sweets

war not, joy delights in joy. Why lovest thou that which thou receivest not gladly, Or else receivest with pleasure thine annoy? If the true concord of well-tuned sounds, By unions married, do offend thine ear, They do but sweetly chide thee, who confounds In singleness the parts that thou shouldst bear. Mark how one string, sweet husband to another, Strikes each in each by mutual ordering, Resembling sire and child and happy mother Who all in one, one pleasing note do sing: Whose speechless song, being many, seeming one, Sings this to thee: "thou single wilt prove none."
