set-expressions of comparative character: a brain as a sieve stick; out as a sore thumb;
set-expressions consist of 1 main and 1 or 2 syntactic words: twiddle your thumbs; in the blood; up to the eyeballs;

Set-expressions consist of 3 and more components are rare: an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth – око за око, зуб за зуб; the eyes are the mirror of the soul – глаза - зеркало души.

to be with one foot in the grave - стоять одной ногой в могиле.

hard on one’s heels / on the heels of / on the neck of - идти по пятам за кем-либо.
