The tomb of Fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu
Built on the Nile River near the city of Cairo. The Great Pyramid consists of an estimated 2.3 million limestone blocks. It was constructed over a 20-year period.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
A series of landscaped terraces. One legend
says that the Hanging Gardens of Babylon were created by Emperor Nebuchadnezzar II, the king of Babylon, for his Persian wife, Queen Amytis, because she missed the green hills and valleys of her homeland.

A structure that occupied the whole
width of the aisle of the temple that was built to house it and was about 12 metres tall. The Statue was a giant seated figure, about 13 m. tall, made by the Greek sculptor Phidias.

which was burned down by Herostratus in an attempt to achieve lasting fame. It was located in Ephesus and was completely rebuilt three times before its eventual destruction in 401. Only foundations and sculptural fragments of the latest of the temples at the site remain.

The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
A tomb of the Anatolian king
built by his widow in the middle of the 3rd century B.C. The structure was designed by the Greek architects Satyros and Pythius of Priene.

A giant statue of the Greek
god Helios or Apollo roughly the same size as today's Statue of Liberty in New York. Before its destruction in the earthquake of 226 B.C., the Colossus of Rhodes stood over 30 meters high, making it one of the tallest statues of the ancient world.

A structure between 115-135 metres tall, it was
among the tallest man-made structures on Earth for many centuries and kept a fire burning nightly which could be seen many miles out in the Mediterranean.
