The length of the lake is 636 meters.
The maximum depth is 1640 meters.
The average temperature of the water in the lake is 4 degrees above zero. In summer it is 16-17 degrees above zero.

Many people think it came from Turkic word “Bai-Kul” which means “a rich lake”.
The water in the lake is unique. In ancient times people used it to treat diseases.

Baikal Reserve is famous for its rare animals and plants.
Transbaikalsky National Park is rich in hot mineral springs and nature monuments.
Pribaikalsky National park is famous for its lakes and nature monuments.
A lot of tourists visit them every year.

Firstly, there are a lot plants and factories, which pollute the water and the air. One of the most famous is Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill.
Secondly , these are nearby villages. People pollute the water and territory near the lake.
Thirdly, tourists leave their rubbish.

To sum up, I’d like to point out that this problem is the most important nowadays. Many people worry about it.
In my opinion, all people have to solve ecological problems to save the Baikal, its beauty and its uniqueness.
