On the Internet, English has a special role. Today, about 82% of all Internet texts are presented in English. Global English is a simplified version of traditional English. A feature of the global English language is a rather limited vocabulary and simplified grammar, reminiscent of the Basic English language system, developed by Charles Ogden.

Correct English.
In the UK, there are several regional dialects: Northern, Central, South – Western, South – Eastern, Scottish, Welsh and Irish. One of these dialects-the language of the educated population of London and South – East England – eventually acquired the status of a national standard (RP). It is based on "correct English" - the language of the best private schools (Eton, Winchester, Harrow, Rugby) and universities (Oxford and Cambridge). This is the classic, literary English.
Differences between American and British English.
spelling:
написание -er вместо -re (center ’центр’, meter ’метр’, theater ’театр’),
-or вместо -our (favor ’услуга’, honor ’честь’, labor ’труд’),
check вместо cheque ’чек’, connection вместо connexion ’связь’,
jail вместо gaol ’тюрьма’,
story вместо storey ’этаж’ и т.д.
grammar:
Американцы менее охотно, чем англичане, употребляют множественное число глагола при собирательных существительных
(the audience were - букв.: ’публика были’,
the government have - букв.:’правительство имеют’).
Чаще образуют существительные от глаголов путем конверсии (to author ’создать’ от author ’автор’, to research ’исследовать’ от research ’исследование’).
Заменяют shall на will (показатель будущего времени) и употребляют have got взамен простого have ’иметь’, а have gotten — взамен became ’стал/а/о’.
Phonetics:
Vowel in English words like class 'class’, half’ half’, pass’ pass’, dance’ dance ’most Americans pronounce more like [a:] in father’
Vowel in words like God 'God’, got' got / a’, rob’ loot ’Americans pronounce more like [a:] in father than like in cloth’. U-shaped sound in words like dew 'dew', duke ’Duke', new’ new 'many Americans rhyme with too 'too; too', not with you’ you ' (i.e. pronounce it as [u:], not as [ju:]).
The mediantt, as in butter 'oil', they pronounce very similar to [d]. Postojannoer, as in car ’the machine’ and the card ’the card’ they are mostly not lowered as the English, and utter in its place a r-shaped sound.
