on red square in Moscow, a monument of Russian architecture. The construction of the Cathedral was carried out from 1555 to 1561.
The Cathedral unites eleven churches, some of which are consecrated in honor of the saints, whose memory days fell on the decisive battles for Kazan. The Central Church was built in honor of the Intercession of the virgin, around which are grouped separate churches in honor of the Holy Trinity, the Entrance of the Lord to Jerusalem, Nikola Velikoretsky, as well as the chapel in honor of St. Basil, after whom the temple received a more famous name.

to the leaders of the Second national militia of 1612, as well as to the end of the time of Troubles and the expulsion of Polish invaders from Russia. It is the first major sculptural monument in Moscow. Designed by architect Ivan Martos in 1818.

It is part of a single ensemble with the Moscow Kremlin, but historically it is a part of Kitay-Gorod.
On red square there are the place of execution, the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, the Mausoleum of Vladimir Lenin, the necropolis at the Kremlin wall. In the Northern part of the square are the Historical Museum and the Kazan Cathedral, in the South — the intercession Cathedral. The architectural ensemble is protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
