some stories about Christmas traditions in Britain.

years ago. They began to decorate the evergreen trees and give presents to each other. They put a big shining star on top of the Christmas tree and hang many bright shining balls and garlands from top to bottom

and red berries. People put holly on Christmas pudding. They also use holly to decorate their houses. It is a very old tradition. Long ago people put holly in their homes during the dark cold winters. They liked to look at holly and think about the spring and the sun.

small white berries. On Christmas Eve there’s a bunch of mistletoe in every house. Under this bunch boys kiss girls.

People often sing carols on Christ- mas Eve in the streets or at home.

They can sing carols in front of the Christmas tree. In small towns and villages waits often come and stand in front of the house and sing carols. They receive money for their singing. They give money to poor and old people.

Birth. Children usually perform this play themselves. They perform it at school before Christmas.
