The Sakha Ysyakh is connected

with the cult of the Sundeity, cult of fertility.
The original birthplace of the summery kymys festival are steppes of the Middle Asia.
The first information on a spring festival one can receive from the diary notes of Dutch travellers, happened to pass Siberia on the way to China in the late 17th century.
After long, continuous winter the people of Sakha could gather and enjoy the festival.
Since 1991 with the adoption of the Sakha Republic Constitution, Ysyakh became a state festival.

Opening

ceremony of the festival was in the White shaman ( Aiyy Oyuun) . He was accompanied with 8 virgin girls and 9 virgin boys. The ritual of kymys sprinkling along with entreaty to deities of aiyy and spirits of the locality were timed to the Sun Dawn. The appeal to the Heaven deities of aiyy whom well being of the people depended on was the festival highlight.

Little children and teenagers like Ysyakh very much.
Here they can perform

their creative abilities: one may sing olonkho( epos of Sakha people) or popular sakha songs, play national music instrument Jew’s-harp, demonstrate modern national fashion and take part in dance battles.
So Ysyakh remains in their memory as a colourful, long-awaited festival, which reminds the next generation about their belonging to the Sakha people.
