Слайд 10Hello, Peter,
How are you? I couldn’t send e-mail messages because I

was very tired after the trip to the USA.

You know, people think of the USA as the country of very big cities like New York or Chicago. In fact, there are a lot of small towns. You know, what they have in small towns is not public transportation at all. They don’t need it — all families have cars. It was very difficult for me to get where I wanted in a small town. A lot of large cities have a metro, but people go by bus or by car to get to the place they need. There are a lot of taxis! They drive on the right side, just like we do...

Somebody is phoning. Peter, I’ll come back next week. I ‘ll tell you everything later.

Слайд 11Welcome to London! We are glad that you are here, and

to make your stay nice and comfortable, we would like to inform you about what you may find unusual in London. First of all, it is that we drive on the LEFT side of the road. You should be very careful and attentive when you cross the road and look first to the RIGHT and then to the left, not like in your home country. If you don’t know how to get around in the city, ask the policeman. They are very polite and always eager to help. There are no trams or trolleys in London, the main transportation is buses and the metro, we call it the Tube. When you get on a bus, you should pay the fare. There is a special conductor for that. London buses have two floors, we call them “doubledeckers”. They are of different colours, and that will help you find the bus you need. The London metro or the Tube is very convenient. It can get you to any place in the city, but it is a little too expensive. So, enjoy your stay in our capital.

Mum said “Stop!”, but Dad said “Go!”
Now we are going very slow.
“Watch that car!” Oh, what a bang!
Now we are in a traffic jam.
Mum says we must take the train.
Dad says in wrong again.
But Dad was wrong and Mum was
right.
We were in the car all night!

go to the dining-room. The next day the Englishman was half-dead and couldn’t stand the hunger any more. “ I shall go and eat even if they kick me out into the sea”, he said to himself. He went to the ship dining-room and had his dinner. He was very much afraid of his future because he could not pay for the meals. At last he addressed the waiter and said “ Bring me the bill, please!”
“What bill? Don’t trouble, Sir. You paid for your meals when you bought the ticket” said the waiter.

Слайд 15TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
Nick and his father went to the village.

In the train every minute Nick put his head out of the window. His father said,
“Nick, keep quiet! Don’t put your head out of the window!”
But Nick went on putting his head out of the window.
Nick’s father took a cap, hid it behind his back and said, “you see your cap has flown”. Nick was scared. He began to cry. He wanted to have his cap back.

“Oh! It was wonderful!” Nick laughed. He was pleased. He took his father’s cap and threw it out of the window. “Now it’s your turn to whistle, Dad!” said he.
