to conduct a survey among our classmates in order to get any idea if they can understand and translate nonsense rhymes from “The Book of Nonsense” by Edward Lear and “Jabberwocky” and “The Hunting of the Snark: An Agony in Eight Fits” by Lewis Carroll;
to compare “Nonsense Alphabet” translations made by E. Klyuev, G. Kruzhkov and V. Savin with our own one and determine how accurately they correspond to the original;
to use new experience for creating a book and video for children.

English nonsense poetry for children is unique and original, it includes

many genres and forms.
Rhymes under analysis have a large number of nonsense words - and each nonsense word is of a clear part of speech.
There are much more monosyllabic words in English than in Russian, they affect the rhythm and must be taken into account in the translation.
The poetic text has specific stylistic devices and features and they can cause difficulty in translation.
