There is an introduction composition “Memory of generations” at the pedestal of the Mamai Hill. One can see a crowd of people who are going to honour the memory of the fallen fighters with wreaths and descended banners. A man and a small girl with a bunch of flowers are at the head of the column. He represents an old generation and she – the young one.

of War Glory. The hall is a cylinder in from, the diameter of it is 42 m. and the height – 13,5 m. There are 34 pictures of the standards on the round wall with the names 7200 fallen fighters, defenders of Stalingrad. A whit marble hand with a torch and eternal flame in it is in the middle of the Hall. A guard of honour is standing at the exit out of the Hall. The change of the guard takes place every hour since 9.00 till 19.00. There is a white marble footwear leading to the Square of Sorrow.

Tree of them were twice-heroes of the Soviet Union, and 28 had orders of Glory of 3 grades.

The embankment is another viewing point that helps the visitor to appreciate the splendour of Stalinist architecture and the beauty of Volgograd city centre.

honor of Stalingrad defenders. In September, 1942 this house was occupied by sergeant. I Pavlov and his battle-friends who were defending the house for 58 days and nights and didn`t let the enemy capture the house.

In May, 1985 on the other side of Pavlov House a new memorial wall was opened. It was erected by the youth of our city on the 40-th anniversary of Great Victory. There is an inscription here: “Labour and war deeds combined in this house. We`ll defend you, dear Stalingrad”.

complex. The mill was built in 1903. It is the only building left after bombing of Stalingrad.

The ruins of the mill were left untouched as a monument to courage and heroism of the Soviet Union.

“Stalingrad Battle”. This museum exhibits military equipment that is demonstrated in the open air. You can see famous Soviet “Katusha” (a military car with reactive artillery) here.

was built in 1903 by a merchant-woman J. Repnikova. It is a building of new Russian style of the 19 – 20-th centuries. The Defence Council and authority systems were situated here. In 1937 the Defence Museum was opened here. After the Stalingrad Battle this house was quite rebuilt. It is a masterpiece of Russian architecture. It was one of the three buildings which was not destroyed during the War.
