Many people eat lunch while at work or school. Some factories
and schools have canteens where you can eat. Chicken or fish, fried potatoes, vegetable salads, and desert: this is the most common menu for lunch.
But the packed lunch is the most common thing to eat. A packed lunch normally consists of some sandwiches, a packet of crisps, an apple and a can of something to drink, for example, coca-cola.
Слайд 8Afternoon tea
Traditionally, loose tea would be served in a teapot with
milk and sugar. This would be accompanied by various sandwiches, scones and usually cakes and pastries. The food would be often served in a tiered stand. Americans drink a lot of juices and soda, iced tea.
Слайд 9
If someone asks you if you 'would like a cuppa', they
are asking if you would like a cup of tea.
If someone says 'let me be mother' or 'shall I be mother', they are offering to pour out the tea from the teapot.
