decided to add a star for every new state, but to keep the number of stripes unchanged. So there will always be thirteen stripes on the American flag to commemorate the original thirteen colonies that started the Union.

were welcomed by a very tall woman. She was wearing a robe and her right arm was holding a torch high in the air. The woman is still there looking out to sea. She is the Statue of Liberty, one of the most famous symbols of America.

. The old saying is very true when we talk about New York – America’s Big Apple. It is the largest city in the country, but it’s not the capital.
