Before the XIII century the area was inhabited by
people of Finnish tribe. Then the Russians, the Mordva., the Chuvash and the Tatars moved here.

Bazarny Karabulak was founded in 1692 as an outpost to defend
a Russian state from possible nomads’ penetration.
The so – called “zasechnie liniyi” were created and strengthened by walls with towers on them.
Слайд 5By the XIX century Bazarny Karabulak has developed into the important
busiest trading centre. It was visited by merchants not only from Saratov, Petrovsk, Kuznetsk, Volsk but from Iran too. To visit the daily bazaars (markets) about 11000 carts came here.

IN THE XIX CENTURY:
in 1895 a railroad came here.
in 1887
Count Nesselrode built a glass factory in the village Khvatovka.
- in 1916 the first mechanical leather factory of Poluektov and Surkov was opened
more than 30 dairies were opened (the biggest was Guryanov and Ilyin’s)
- a sheepskin factory (the owners - Shamurin and Kleyeva)
-there was a merchant Gladkov’s cloth factory in Novaya Zhukovka.
- there were lots of leather, carpenters', cooperage, fulling, shoemaking and other small homecrafts and workshops.

in the fields.
10 of them became “ A hero of the Soviet Union”.

Bazarny Karabulak is the administrative centre of Bazarnokarabulaksky district, located in
the north of Saratov oblast. Motor – roads connect Bazarny Karabulak with Saratov, Novye Burasy, Baltay, Volsk, and Penza oblast. There is a railway station Karabulak located on the railway line Atkarsk – Sennaya. Buses deliver passengers to the nearest towns and villages.

Tatars, Chuvash, Mordva and many other nations live in peace and harmony here. There are villages with compact accommodation of these nations:
- Belaya Gora - Chuvash and Tatars
- Shnyaevo and Kazanla - Chuvash. Mordva - in Sukhoy Karabulak and Ryazaykino, in Yakovlevka - Tatars.

National ensembles have been created in these communities to represent
their national culture .
These national teams are:
the Mordovian “Umarina”,
the Tatar “Sandugach”,
the Chuvash “Pelesh” and others.
Traditionally festivals of national cultures are held in Bazarny Karabulak:
- “Maslenitsa”, “Troitsa” - Russian festivals
“Sabantuy” - the festival of the Tatar culture,
“Baltay” - the festival of the Mordovian culture,
“Akatuy”- the Chuvash festival.

Federal project, the aim of which is to create the healthy style area in the district.
Annually in the district area regional final competitions on ski races "Ski Track Of Russia" are held.

The Saint Nicolay's church. Its restoration began in 2001 and in
2004 it was consecrated.
The Alekseyevsky Convent of Saint Sergiy is another famous historical sight.
