Слайд 3History of the origin of English cuisine
Together with the transformation of
England into the British Empire into the national cuisine of England, the culinary characteristics of India, China, and North America began to influence. In the Middle Ages, the main product was bread. Fish was also an important food. By decree of the Roman Catholic Church, which united the population of England, on Fridays and until late at night on Wednesdays, Saturdays, meat was banned. Sheep breeding was widely spread. Goats were like a source of milk and meat. Beef, lamb was popular. The basis of English dishes are meat, fish, vegetables and cereals. Very few Englishmen use spices and seasonings. A variety of cold snacks is rich. The most popular sandwiches are triangular. Classical are sandwiches - triangles of white bread with cucumber. Englishmen consume a lot of meat: beef, lamb, veal, not fat pork. Most often, the meat is baked with blood and cut into steaks. The meat is usually served with different sauces and marinades, and the garnish - vegetables or potatoes
Слайд 4Features of English cuisine
The main feature of the English cuisine is
the fact that, in contrast to the exquisite cuisine of France, here preference is given to simpler, but at the same time nutritious dishes.
A feature of English cuisine is also the fact that many Englishmen are loyal to the same breakfast day in and day out.
The first breakfast is usually served with scrambled eggs and bacon (it should not be too fat), oat porridge (porridge) and toast with orange jam. Some prefer fried eggs to fried herring, sausages or kidneys. All this is drunk down with a lot of tea.
Lunch is served at half past one. Its menu most often includes fries (necessarily with fried potatoes and green vegetables), dessert, pudding, rice with milk, sometimes lush cheese, which is eaten not only with bread, but also with special biscuits and butter.
The garnish is offered only vegetables and potatoes. The assortment of vegetables in English cuisine in comparison with the kitchens of other countries is very limited. The most common are turnips and cabbage, as well as onions, carrots, green salads, potatoes, all kinds of greens (dill, parsley, celery, etc.).
Слайд 5Traditional dishes of English cuisine
Until now, the cuisine of England
has well preserved and delivered many traditional dishes, based on meat, vegetables, cereals and fish. A characteristic feature of English cuisine is conservative cooking. The British cooking is almost without spices and sauces, while spruce uses seasonings to dishes, it is often a lot of sour, spicy and other spices that are served in bottles and are used after the dish is ready.
