Today I'd like to compare two screen adaptations of Hamlet. The first one was directed bi Gregory Mikhailovich Kozintsev in 1964 and the second one was shooted by Franco Zeffirelli in 1990.
First big difference is that the film by Kozintsev is black and white whereas Zeffirelli's film is color. I'd like to remark that despite the difference in age of these two films all movements of he actors is very simmilar. Speaking about the actors, they played in Kozintsev's screen adaptation as excellent as in Zeffirelli's film. As for the synergy in this films, there are very well matched to immerse the viewers in the film. You know both films have very beautiful and magical music. Both Dmitriy Shostakovich and Ennio Marricone did a terrific job as composers. In my opinion the Kozintsev's screen adaptation there are better and more appropriate costumes. In conclusion I'd like to recommend Kozintsev's film to you because it is more exciting and enjoyable. –

Сравнения двух экранизаций-Григория Козинцева (1964) и Франко Дзефирелли (1990)
Today my task is to compare and contrast two film versions of Shakespeare's "Hamlet". The first screen adaptation is directed by Kozintsev and shoot in a film studio "Lenfilm" in 1964. Another film is directed by Zeffirelli and shoot in 1990.To my mind, both films have a lot of differences, but they both is really amazing.
Firstly i want to compare "The Russian Hamlet" with "The American Hamlet". Smoktunovsky's acting is really differ from Gibson's. I think acting of Smoktunovsky is better than Gibson's acting, because Hamlet should be more closer and self-absorbed like Smoktunovsky's Hamlet. In scene of Hamlet's monologue Gibson chaostically wanders the room and expresses his emotions very openly, at the same time Smoktunovsky's Hamlet is closed, doesn't move during his monologue.
The both Anastsia Vertinskaya and Helena Bonham Carter performs Aphelia's role very great. But to my mind, Russian Aphelia looks more cute and beutiful than American. In Zeffirelli film Aphelia looks depressing and gloomy.
In my opinion, the sceneries and the camera man work more beautiful in Zeffirelli's film, but only because this film was shoot lately than Kozintsev's.
And finally the music and costumes in both film is really amazing and helps you to feel the atmoshere of medievial lifestyle and relationships between the heroes of the film.
In conclusion i tend to think that both films have much in common and lot's of differences, but The Russian film impressed me more than American, because to my mind it transmit the apmosphere and hero feelings and emotions more correctly than another.
