Слайд 12Biography
Cousteau, Jacques Yves is a French traveler and Explorer, a promoter
of the protection of the sea.
He was born in June 11, 1910 in Saint-Andre-de-Cubzac. Since childhood Cousteau was fond of photography and filming. In 13 years he has professionally mastered the camera. Having finished the naval school in Brest (1930), Jacques-Yves received a Midshipman in the Navy. Then he met Philip Taye, the naval officer, who was fond of deep sea diving, and his friend Frédéric Dumas.
Слайд 13The inventions
Jacques Cousteau participated in the development of equipment for deep
diving . In 1943, Cousteau and the engineer Emile Diana invented the Autonomous diving suit with aqualung. With its help it was possible to move easily under the water and to dive to a depth of 90 m.
Слайд 14Underwater expedition
In 1950, Cousteau has converted American minesweeper and gave him
the name "Calypso", and began to organize underwater expeditions. The first underwater archaeological excavations and photography of the seabed at depths of up to 7250 m. were carried out at "Calypso".
In 1953 Cousteau in collaboration with F. Dumas published the book "The silent world", which immediately became a bestseller.
In 1956 the film version, made by Cousteau, received the award "Oscar" and Cannes “The Golden palm".
Слайд 15«The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau»
In the early 60-ies of the
twentieth century Cousteau began a series of experiments to study a full life under water — the project "Continental shelf". "The Underwater house" was in operation from September 14, 1962 (the documentary on this film "The World without the Sun" won the "Oscar" in 1965).
The traveler studied the behavior of sharks in their natural environment, defended the whales. According to the materials of the expeditions there is a cycle of TV films "Underwater Odyssey by the team Cousteau."
Слайд 16 Аwonderful person
Till the end of his life the scientist has
been active in advocacy for the protection and sea protection, for which he received France's Legion of honor.
He died on 25 June 1997 in Paris.
They say that the man flies in a dream while he grows. Then he grows up, becomes busy, stops dreaming and flying in a dream. And then – he stopped flying in a dream, because he learned to fly in reality. Not in the sky – in the ocean. Not in the air – in the water. An amazing person with very good fortune - Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
Слайд 17Two worlds-two geniuses!
We can say even more about Nikolai Nikolaevich Drozdov
and Jacques-Yves Cousteau.....But the most important thing in my opinion, is that these people have made an enormous contribution to the development of environment ,science and to the Earth ...
Both these men are significant to the history of the planet .
