During the Great Patriotic war he personally commanded the operations of the mine fields, solved the problems of the naval base defense of Sevastopol and ensured the stable regime in the area. He assumed the great operative and strategic importance of the Crimean peninsula and did everything possible to stop the enemy.

admiral Fadyeev. It is one of the most beautiful streets in Sevastopol. Fadyeev Street is situated in Gagarin district, at the western shore of Streletskaya Bay. It starts from Neustroyev Square and stretches up to Stepanyan street. This street appeared at the city map on the 6th of May 1980 when the City Council took the decision to rename it after the legendary defender of Sevastopol vice- admiral Fadyeev. There is the school №23, a kindergarten, a lot of high buildings and several supermarkets. The street is especially beautiful in spring, when there are a lot of greenery.
