речи вопросов чаще всего используются глаголы:asked, wanted to know, wondered.
При изложении в косвенной речи общих вопросов используется один из названных глаголов с союзом if, при этом порядок слов в вопросе становится прямым.
Для передачи в косвенной речи специальных вопросов союз If не используется, порядок слов становится прямым .

5 I wanted to know if Jack was good at foreign languages.
6 She asked me if I enjoyed the performance.
7 He wanted to know if I would go to the disco the next day.
8 My friend asked me if I was going away somewhere for my holiday.

I said to my friend, “How long did you stay in Moscow?”
He said to me, “ What will you do after school?”
She said to her friend, “ What do you usually do in the evening?”

Tom said, “How long will it take us to go there by plane?”
She said to me, “ Where has he gone?”

The doctor says, “How long have you had that cough?”
Peter says, “Have you ever been to Moscow?”
The examiner says, “Is Scotland an independent state?”
The editor said to the writer, “When will you finish your book?”
He said, “What are you doing here , boys?”
George said to Ann, “Do you like rainy weather?”
Lucy said to Kate, “Have you bought a new car?”
Mother said to her son, “Why did you turn off the radio?”

Report the questions

She wanted to know what her friend usually did in the evening.

My friend wanted to know what the director had told me.
Tom wanted to know how long it would take us to go there by plane.
She wondered where he had gone.
