had a sister Margaret they grew up in a warm loving home. They didn’t go to school. The girls had their own private teacher Miss Crawford, a Scottish woman. “Crawfie” gave them their lessons at home. Margaret and Elizabeth also studied dancing, art and music. The girls had a happy life.

to play with other girls and she never showed she was
superior to them. She even bought shoes for one of her
girlfriend who was very poor.

War Two Elizabeth joined the Armed Forces, the first female monarch do so, and helped drive and repair military trucks. Just imagine: the Queen driving or repairing a military truck!

sister Margaret often saw their friends and went to parties. But Elizabeth didn’t really enjoy them she was shy, and she didn’t need to meet more handsome young men. She already knew the man who she wanted to marry. This was Prince Philip of Greece.

1946 they agree to marry. Philip’s family was poor but royal. Things were difficult for Philip when he was a boy, his parents didn’t live together and he had to stay at school or with other family relatives around Europe. During the war he fought in navy.

of her father King George VI she became a new Queen of Commonwealth of Nations. On 2 June1953 young Princess Elizabeth was crowned as a Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. She was only 26 years old.
