The first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated by
pilgrims in autumn of 1621. They were European travelers who sailed on ship «Mayflower» and tried to find the New World.

These people belonged to the religious group of Puritans which
was pursued in England. They did not believe in the Church of Rome, the Pope or the power of the king over other people but thought that God was in people’s hearts, not in the church.
