way with holly, ivy and mistletoe. It was considered that all evergreen plants are symbol of an eternal life.

the celebrations. Martin Lyuter adorned the top of a fir tree by a star which symbolized a Bethlehem star
. It appeared above a stable where Jesus Christ was born.
