Glasgow – is the largest city in Scotland. It is

situated on the river Clyde in the country’s West Central Lowlands.
Inhabitants are called Glaswegians or Weegies.
It used to be a small rural settlement and it became one of the largest seaports in the world.
In 18th century it became the centre of Enlightenment. During the period of Industrial Revolution it became one of the world’s pre-eminent centres of chemicals, textiles and engineering – it’s obvious also that shipbuilding and marine engineering are the most widely developed industries there.
Glasgow is known for being “The second city of the British Empire” for much of the Victorian Era and Edwardian period.
Now it’s a bit business and financial centre.
Also Glasgow is at the 57th place on the list of the most livable cities in the world.
It is known for the numerous bridges.

times for settlement due to it being the furthest downstream fording point of the River Clyde.
The territories were inhabited by the Celtic tribes

The Kelvin – is the 2nd important river there.
Glasgow’s climate is defined as oceanic.
Owing to its westerly postiton and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, Glasgow is one of the Scotland’s milder areas.
Temperatures are usually higher than most places of equal latitude away from the UK due to the warming influence of Gulf Stream.
Winters are cool and overcast.
The most extreme temp is -12 C
During the summer months the weather can vary considerably from the day to day ranging from relatively cool and wet to quite warm with the odd sunny days.
