This nation has its own language, culture, old traditions and festivals, their own faith, but its past is dramatic and sometimes fatally intertwined with the history and future of Russia. This nation - the Kazan Tatars, this country is - Tatarstan.

Kul Sharif mosque is one of the main mosques of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan (2005), located on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin.
Construction of the temple was started in 1996 as a re-creation of the legendary mosque with many minarets of the capital of the Kazan Khanate, the center of religious education and the development of the sciences of the Middle Volga XVI century. The mosque was destroyed in October 1552 during the storming of Kazan by Ivan the Terrible. The opening of the mosque took place on 24 June 2005, to the 1000 anniversary of Kazan.

important for the history of Kazan. One of them is the Lenin’s museum. Lenin was the leader of proletariat, revolutionary and the founder of Marxism and Leninism.
The house of Lenin Museum was opened in Kazan in 1937. The exposition of the museum contains of variety of materials, books, photographs, documents of the Ulyanov′ s family . The house itself consists of six rooms, all the rooms are like rooms where lived Ulyanov’s family.

One of the main museums is the museum of famous Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai. The museum itself is a two-storeyed house, which is a monument of architecture of XIX-XX centuries.
The museum exhibition includes major periods of the life and works of Gabdulla Tukai. It is photos, things, household items, books.

try Tatar food. Tatar cuisine is primarily the cuisine of the Volga Tatars, who live in Tatarstan, Russia, and surrounding areas. A wide variety of dough dishes is a feature of the traditional Tatar cuisine. Soups are very popular among Tatars. Particularly popular is noodle soup served with toqmaç (home made noodles) and enriched with pieces of boiled meat or chicken from the broth. Soups are often served with meat balls or stuffed buns (öçpoçmaq, pärämäç, bawırsaq).
The Tatar cuisine offers a variety of baked sweets, usually served with tea. Çäkçäk (chakchak, chak-chak, or chek-chek) is a mound of honey-drenched sweet pastry balls, common among all Turkic peoples. It used to be a ceremonial food brought by the bride to the reception at the bridegroom's home. Today it is a common sweet. Honey is very popular in baking and on its own, served with tea.

very proud that it was chosen as the capital of future Universiade Games.
