Russia. It is a right tributary of the Ussuri River, and is 560 kilometers (350 mi) long, with a drainage basin of 22,300 square kilometers (8,600 sq mi).

Main tributaries are the Alchan, Bachelaza and Zeva rivers.

Geographical position

central Sikhote-Alin, linking the Amur River basin in the west to the Primorsky krai in the east. The drainage basin of the Bikin runs through isolated mountainous territory, covered with mixed conifer and deciduous forest, emptying into the Ussuri River and ultimately the Amur and the  Okhotsk  Sea .

Everyone can meet here reproductive core of northern subpopulation of the Amur tiger , as well as another 51 species of mammals, there is a high density of hunting animals, a bulk nesting of the scaly-sided merganser population , fish-owls and other 169 species of birds.There you can also find 7 main species of the basin.

woody species are Korean pine– 44%, Asian spruce– 38%, yellow birch– 9%, larch– 4%, white birch – 3%.

More than 40 species of plants are valuable due to their medicated,nutritive, technical and they are growing in the taiga.

Annually local people gather a lot of
rare herbs in this ecologically clean region
which meet the demands of medical herbsof the whole Primorye.

Middle and Upper Bikin territory are defined by the species and ecological diversity of region’s fauna and its distribution on the territory. Here are habitats of the following mammals: morel, elk , musk deer, wild hog, roe deer , Himalayan black bear and brown bear, Amur tiger, Indian marten, wolverine sable, acclimatized American mink badger and Siberian striped weasel several species of shew.

is very uncommon because of its special ecological structure . There are 241 bird species, which belong to 17 classes and they are known for being at the Bikin basin. Among them 171 species (about 71.8%) are noticed here to nest , the rest of birds can be met during seasonal migrations. The majority of breeding bird species (97) inhabit the valley broadleaf and pine-broadleaf forests. Rare feathered species, confined to the river basin and, moreover, to the fish resources and abundance of amphibian in the thick forests, are the following:a black stork, a scaly-sided merganser,a mandarin duck , a greyfaced buzzard, an osprey and a black fish-owl. A long-billed ringed plover is a very rare endemic species but it is typical by the endless river banks.

7 families. Salmonidae with 5 species and Cyprinidae with 10-12 species are the greatest amount . The northern lampreys, graylings, cottids , loachgobies, and true loaches are the smallest number of fishes.

River looks unpleasantly when there is a lot of rubbish in it.

Effects of pollution

helpful measures for reducing water pollution. Laws can make water pollution levels lower and lower to the minimum.

Proper disposal/containment of toxic chemicals/materials before they have an opportunity to reach our river.

Toxic fumes being produced by industrial plants should be filtered, rerouted and cleaned before releasing to the atmosphere.
