American Founding Father ( отец-основатель), the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776) and the third President of the United States (1801–1809).

Just after the war ended, from mid 1784 Jefferson served as a diplomat, he became the Minister to France.

In 1752, Jefferson began to study at the local primary (местная начальная школа) school in the Scottish priest (священник) William Douglas and began studying Latin, Greek and French. In 1757 his father died, from whom Thomas inherited (унаследовал) about 5,000 acres of land and dozens of slaves (несколько десятков рабов). Soon on this land was built Monticello( усадьба Джефферсона).
