In 1752, Jefferson began to study at the local primary (местная начальная школа) school in the Scottish priest (священник) William Douglas and began studying Latin, Greek and French. In 1757 his father died, from whom Thomas inherited (унаследовал) about 5,000 acres of land and dozens of slaves (несколько десятков рабов). Soon on this land was built Monticello( усадьба Джефферсона).
