2. Song background
You are going to hear a song by The Beatles, a very successful musical group from England. The Beatles played music in the 1960s, but their music is still very popular today. This song is about a man who is interested in someone else’s girlfriend.
3. Grammar background
This song uses two different forms of the future. One of them is be going to. Write this sentence with be going to on the board:
Mary is going to visit her grandmother next week.
Remind students that be has different forms for different subjects:
I + am
he/she/it + is going to
we/you/they + are

sounds like gonna. Tell students that they should not use this form in their writing, but people do sometimes write this form, if they
are being very informal, as in email. It looks like this:
