Celebration of New year in the night of December 31 for January 1 originates in the Soviet past of Kazakhstan therefore a little than differs from a meeting of New year in Russia. Now it is one of the most mass and favourite holidays in the country.
Decoration of fir-trees has universal character. However unlike Europe on streets it is seldom possible to meet Father Frost (каз. Ayaz ата) with the Snow Maiden (каз. Ashaar) — they usually are guests of corporate actions. Exactly at midnight people clink glasses with champagne glasses, sit down to the New Year's table then pay visits to friends and relatives

The day before there was a Christmas Eve in which orthodox all day fast, and the meal is started only after darkness or emergence approach in the sky of the first star. The leader of the Central Asian region, Kazakhstan intensively develops in recent years. Kazakhstan achieved noticeable successes in economy thanks to reorganization of all economic system which during an era of the USSR leaned generally on extracting industries.
