Let me introduce these people.
To get more acquainted to the traditions, customs and holidays in the United States of America, I decided to ask some questions to my childhood friend George Khanin, who shared with me his family’s photographs.

Слайд 4American culture
Nearly every region of the world has influenced American culture,

as it is a country of immigrants, most notably the English who colonized the country beginning in the early 1600s. U.S. culture has also been shaped by the cultures of Native Americans, Latin Americans, Africans and Asians.
The United States is sometimes described as a "melting pot" in which different cultures have contributed their own distinct "flavors" to American culture. Just as cultures from around the world have influenced American culture, today American culture influences the world. The term Western culture often refers broadly to the cultures of the United States and Europe.
As the third largest country in the word with a population of more than 315 million, the United States is the most culturally diverse country in the world.

Russian culture has a long history and can claim a long

tradition of dividend in many aspects of the arts, especially when it comes to literature and philosophy, classical music and ballet, architecture and painting, cinema, and animation, which all had considerable influence on world culture.
Russian culture is non-individualistic. The power of an individual in Russia is much less than in the west and most deals are pushed through family, friends and acquaintances. Russian saying is, "One is not a soldier in the battlefield". In Russia, one still needs to know people in power to make things work. This is why they maintain more friendships than an average westerner. They often have to rely on their friends to help them out.

Слайд 15Maslenitsa
Maslenitsa corresponds to the Western Christian. Carnival Maslenitsa has its origins in both pagan and Christian traditions.

In Slavic mythology, Maslenitsa is a celebration of the imminent end of the winter. The most characteristic food of Maslenitsa is bliny (pancakes or crepes). Round and golden, they are made from the rich foods still allowed by the Orthodox tradition that week: butter, eggs and milk. During pagan times, the round and golden shape and color signified praise to the Sun because of pancakes' resemblance to it. As the culmination of the celebration, on Sunday evening, Lady Maslenitsa is stripped of her finery and put to the flames of a bonfire.

Слайд 19American wedding traditions
There are many traditions and customs for Weddings in the United States,

most of which are based on a wide array of factors such as religion, culture, and social norms. Before the Wedding many brides have bridal showers before their wedding, during which she receives gifts from the guests. Many couples will make precautions so that they will not be able to see each other before their wedding ceremony. During the ceremony, it is customary to include bridesmaids and groomsmen in the event. The members of the bridal party are chosen to share the happiness with the couple getting married. But my mail-friend Jake finds brides party boring. The only thing he likes is a wedding cake.
Throwing the bride's garter to the single men at the wedding is a tradition similar to the bouquet toss.
After the wedding reception, the newlyweds usually leave for their honeymoon, a trip to the destination of their choice.
