in the number of books being published about England and its culture. This should come has no surprise given that English has become the global language and any sort of international exchange is impossible without it. Without knowing the culture and character of the people, it is not impossible to understand the language properly, or converse meaningfully.
The modern world is rushing headlong down the path of cultural globalisation. European countries retain their cultural identities. And in terms of the preservation of identity, England is one of the leading lights.
In my work, I’d like to observe Englishmen and conduct a survey as the students of our school relate to the English and what they think about them. What is more, I will pay attention to the traditions and habits of the Englishman, to consider their character and the attitude of the Russians towards them.

METHODS USED:
Scientific research through reading book and articles by Anna Pavlovskaya, communication with native foreign residents
The search of necessary information through the Internet resources
Statistical survey focusing on the attitude of schoolchildren towards England and the English

A short description of the character of the English, their traditions
Comparison of Russian and English characters
Survey results

Anna Pavlovskaya and other books about England and surfing the Internet. A comparison was made between the two countries and their inhabitants. Differences and similarities were found.
The second part of the research was a survey. Total number of participants (mostly students of different age and occupation) is 84. They were given questionnaires with 3 questions. Survey results were made to simple diagrams for easier presenting and better understanding. It helped to form public opinion towards on knowledge of the character of the English and their habits, to prove hypothetical statements about it, to make a summary and a conclusion.
