he became interested in English and translated Baum’s book. Then he retold it to his children and they liked it so much that he decided to write the story redoing something and adding new heroes and events. S. Y. Marshak who saw the manuscript enjoyed it so much that he printed the book in 1939 and recommended Volkov to become a writer…
