old city. It is two thousand years old. London is not only the capital of the country, it is also a huge port. London is situated upon both banks of the Thames. There are 17 bridges across the river.

Today, the Tower is probably best known as the home of the Crown Jewels.

Westminster.
The Westminster is located near The Houses of Parliament.
Since 1060 every coronation has taken place in Westminster Abbey.

Parliament. Big Ben is the name given to the clock on the tower of the Houses of Parliament. The clock with its bell is named after Sir Benjamin Hall, a very tall man, whose nickname was “Big Ben”.
The clockfaces have a diameter of almost 7.5 m.
The hour hand is 2.7m long and
the minute hand is 4.25 long

The middle of the bridge can be raised 4 to 5 times a week.
The Bridge is 60 meter long and its towers rise to a high of 43 meter.
