My aim is to find information about American and Russian holidays,
their differences and similarities.
Слайд 3Hypothesis:
If many American immigrants were Russians, they could contribute to
the formation of American culture and traditions. This means that American and Russian holidays should have a lot in common.
Слайд 4 Let’s start with

It is a family holiday. Families gather and cook a turkey and many other traditional dishes to thank God, each other, fate, neighbors, relatives for all the good things in their lives.

Слайд 13Day of Knowledge
The 1st of September is the popular holiday in
Russia – the day of Knowledge. Schools open their hospitable doors for children. All pupils have meetings, give their teachers flowers, congratulate each other and wish good luck.
Слайд 14Similarities in Russian and American celebrations
Слайд 15 New Year:
the decoration of the Christmas/New Year’s Tree ,gifts, cooking
special food, having a family dinner , fireworks and so on.
St. Valentine's Day-: the traditions are exactly the same, because it has just came to us from the West.
In April and May it is an international holiday – Easter.
In October, there is a Halloween festival, which also came in Russia from America and it is becoming more and more popular.
Слайд 17There are differences in Russian and American holidays. These are some
of them:
On the 8th of March we have Women’s Day. It’s a holiday of love, youth and spring too. Americans have Mother's Day. But we have Mother's Day on the 26th of November.
We do not have father's day at all, but Americans have one. And I think it would be great to introduce such a holiday in Russia.
Слайд 18Conclusion
After learning, analyzing all the information I have about the celebrations
in the United States and Russia, I can draw the conclusion:
We live in Russia ,Americans live in the USA. We and they have bright holidays and interesting traditions. Russian holidays and traditions have similarities with American ones as well as differences. And we should value them.
