Princess Sophie Frederica August of Anhalt-Zerbst. She was born on the second of May in 1729 in Stettin.

Europe. She developed the arts and sciences in her country. It was a fantastic period for theatre and music. She also improved educational system.

Catherine the Great was a six –month (January 2, 1787 – July 11, 1787) unique journey, about 3000 people accompanied her. It was a journey from St. Petersburg via Kiev to the newly acquired lands of New Russia and Crimea. They visited many places and main cities of Crimea.

Catherine was first unveiled in 1890 in Simferopol. It was destroyed during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and restored in 2016 in August,19. There is also a monument to Catherine in Sevastopol opened in June,15, 2008.
