day is the most important day in the American year. People go to churches and families come together for the day. They gather at the house of an older relative, even if they live far away. All give thanks for everything good they have.

Atlantic ocean to settle in the New World. The people were called Pilgrims. The Pilgrims sailed to America from Plymouth, England.

These people were the Native American Indians. The Indians taught the Pilgrims how to hunt, fish, plant and survive in America.
In the autumn of 1621 the people had there first harvest. It was rather good. The colonists decided to have Thanksgiving feast. They wanted to thank God for many things.
