Pollution of atmospheric air
According to 96% of inhabitants of our city lives in conditions of high and very high level of pollution of atmospheric air. The mass of polluting substances jumps out environment. One of the main pollutants of atmospheric air is motor transport which quantity steadily grows. In the conditions of such big city as Petersburg, the dangerous substances polluting air — carbon oxide, nitrogen oxide, nitrogen dioxide, a dust, sulfur dioxide and others and possessing ability to increase of the toxicity and very steady in environment cause many diseases. From a surface of a body and through respiratory ways chemical pollutants get inside and have pathogenic effect.
Environmental protection problems from pollution by waste
The problem of waste in St. Petersburg was called five years ago among priority. The quantity of waste annually increases by 1 resident. Collecting and recycling are one of the most important problems of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. It is caused by a significant amount and a variety of structure of being formed waste. The problem is aggravated, in our opinion, also with that there are no exact data on quantity and quality of being formed waste. The economic situation in the country promotes that many small enterprises work without the strict reporting on waste, the period of work happens short, but waste manages to arrive in environment. Some confusion with issue of licenses for export of waste led to that dump garbage in unspecified places

Our first stop is the beach at Hastings where William the Conqueror’s armies arrived from Normandy in 1066, then we visit Battle Abbey , built by William to celebrate his victory, and watch actors in period costume re-enact the battle and the death of the English king Harold.
