Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. It consists of four parts:
England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The capital of Great Britain is London.
Many years ago London was a small town on the Thames. Now London is a beautiful city with large squares and parks. London is one of the biggest cities in the world. The most important rivers are the Severn and the Thames.

have weather. It happens because the weather changes more often than in other countries. British winters are mild and springs are cool. It often rains. The English also say they have three weather : when it rains in the morning, when it rains in the afternoon, or when it rains all day long. The best time of the year in England is spring (of course, it rains in spring, too). The two worst months in Britain are January and February. They are cold, damp, and unpleasant. The best place in the world then is at home by the fire. Summer months are cold and there are a lot of rainy days.

the typical English traditions is to have a “five o’clock tea” during the day. Many British people like their evening meal. They like fish and chips or vegetables with meat for supper. For dessert they have some fruits or ice-cream. They also like pudding. Some people drink a glass of milk before going to sleep.

witches and ghosts. They make lamps of pumpkins. Sometimes children go out in groups, knock at people`s doors and get a treat.
