Siberia. She was born with fibular hemimelia, so she didn’t have fibulas, ankles, heels, and most of the other bones in her feet. Jessica was adopted from Russian orphanage when she was 13 months old. When she was 18 months old, the rest of her lower parts of her legs were amputated so that she could be fitted for prosthetic legs and learn how to walk.









Jessica is one of six children and her parents made sure they all remained active. The girl have been involved in many sports including gymnastics, basketball, cheerleading, ice skating, biking, running, and rock climbing. However, Jessica always loved swimming the most. She learned how to swim in her grandparents’ pool where she and her sisters would spend hours pretending they were mermaids.

swim team. That’s when the girl learned all four strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle).  She thought she was going to drown the first time she tried to do butterfly across the entire length of the pool, but Jessica was determined to keep going and now butterfly is her best stroke. The girl hold the world record!
