Crabbed age and youth cannot live together, Youth is full of pleasure, age Is full of care; Youth like summer morn; age like winter weather; Youth like summer brave –, age like winter bare; Youth is full of sport; age's breath Is short; Youth Is hot and bold; age is weak and cold; Youth is wild and age is tame; Age, I do abhor thee!

Юность весенним весельем полна,
У старости свои заботы всегда.
Юность не любит снег и холода,
У старости в душе извечная зима.
Юность любит порезвиться,
Дома никогда ей не сидится.
Старость же тепла не знает,
Подвижности она не понимает.
Юность любит лето и жару,
Старость - снежную пургу.
Старость – это мудрый склад ума,
Юность для веселья нам дана,
Хорошо бы, что бы вечною она была.
