It is often called the Met. Theatre belongs to the most famous opera houses. The theater is open seven months of the year, from September to April. Performances are daily. From May to June, the theater goes on tour. In addition, in July, the theater offers free performances in the parks of New York City, collecting a huge number of spectators.
Orchestra and Chorus of the theater work on a permanent basis, and invited soloists and conductors on contract for the season or for certain performances. Opera is traditionally performed in the original language. The repertoire is world classics, including Russian composers.

The once most aptly named theatre on Broadway, the intimate Music Box was designed by architect C. Howard Crane and constructed bycomposer Irving Berlin and producer Sam H. Harris specifically to house Berlin's famed Music Box Revues. It opened in 1921 and hosted a new musical production every year until 1925, when it presented its first play, Cradle Snatchers, starring Humphrey Bogart. The following year,Chicago, the Maurine Dallas Watkins play that served as the basis for the hit musical, opened here. It housed a string of hits for the playwriting team of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart.

One of the smaller Broadway houses, with a seating capacity of 860, the theater was co-owned by Berlin's estate and the Shubert Organization until the latter assumed full ownership in 2007. The lobby features a plaque and wall exhibit commemorating its rich history.

The Shubert Organization's fiftieth venue in New York City, it was constructed to replace their outdated Lyric Theatre. Designed by Herbert J. Krapp specifically to accommodate musical theatre productions, it opened on December 25, 1923 with the Oscar Hammerstein II-Vincent Youmans production by Mary Jane McKane.

It is also the venue of the first Ms. Globe Pageant in 1951.

States. The company performs an annual five-program season at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts and conducts regional and national tours. It was featured in the October/November 2007. The company is the result of the 1989 merger of Ballet Oregon and Pacific Ballet Theater. James Canfield, a former dancer with Joffrey Ballet and principal dancer with Pacific Ballet Theater, served as Artistic Director of Oregon Ballet Theater from its inception until 2003. Under his leadership the company repertoire grew to comprise over 80 ballets, from evening-length works to contemporary pieces.
