REGION WE ARE pROUD OF

a motherland of eight Heroes of the Soviet Union . One of them is Klavdiya Yakovlevna Fomicheva , a Red Army Air Force officer and a combat pilot .

her childhood in Znamenka village (Dankosky District ). She was a sporty and an athletic girl . In 1936 Fomichova joined glider club .
Later she was invited to participate at the paramilitary flying club . By 1938 she became a flight instructor and trained young people in flying club in Reutov .

and was accepted by the 122nd Aviation Group . Later she took command of the squadron . She took part in various battles of the war and was wounded .

and orders . But the most important one was the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union in 1945.
After the war Klavdiya Fomicheva served as an instructor at the Air Force Academy . She died in 1958.
