director was Michael Pavlovich Kroshitsky. By the time the museum was stated in 1894, it consisted of handicraft and ethnographic, historical and art departments. Later the last one became a separate art museum and took the building which was intended for the regional museum.

Nowadays the Voronezh Art Museum

named after I.N. Kramskoy owns a unique collection of Ancient Egypt, Antique, Russian and West-European art of the 19-20th centuries, icons, graphics, arts and crafts, sculptures and paintings of our famous compatriots like I.N. Kramskoy, A.A. Buchkuri, E.A. Kiseleva and modern Voronezh artists. The museum fund consists of over than 20 thousand items.
