Omsk is a large city in Russia, the administrative center of the Omsk region.

The history of Omsk dates back to the beginning of the
18th century, when in 1717, the first wooden Omsk fortress was built at the confluence of Om and Irtysh to protect against the raids of nomads and as a reference point for further advancement into Siberia. In the 1770s, one of the military structures was built across the Urals.
The city and the administrative centers of the Siberian Cossack army gradually began to grow around the new fortress.
