Ural is situated between Europe and Asia. It occupies a favourable geographical position. The majestic Ural Mountains stretch all the way from north to south of the country. They are ancient, strongly destroyed mountains of no great height.
The eastern slopes of the Urals is
famous for the mountain Magnitnaya(the place near Magnitogorsk).It is so called a group of mountains Berezovaya,Uzyanka Jezhovka,Atach,Dalnaya. They occupied the area of 25 square kilometres on the left bank of the Ural river.There was a great concentration of iron in the past. It was believed that the iron content of the ores was to 70%.The total reserves of iron- ore were estimated to 500 million tons.The chief deposits of iron ore were concentrated on the surface. It was very easy to extract iron ore.

The official date of birth of the city is 30 June1929-the day of arrival at Magnitotostroy the first train from station Kartali.

Magnitka.This word mainly causes the association with the
largest metallurgical industry centre in Russia. City rightfully carries the namе «Steel Town»,because the most part of left coast of Ural river is occupied by a giant of black metallurgy-Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works.

Ural in 30-s there were the greatest mass movements of modern history. Thousands of people came to Magnitka from all over Russia.
It is interesting to know that the monument « The first tent» has become a romantic symbol of five-year plans epoch. The monument was opened on the 9-th of May 1966 in the days of the meeting of the first builders of the city/

sculptural element-the hand, which carefully lifted piece of iron ore.

The general height of the monument is 6 metres high.

May citizens of Magnitogorsk come to lay flowers to the monument to honour those who defended our Motherland during World War II. Processions of veterans are held there.
