ULAN- UDE !

is a rectangular sheet consisting of 3 horizontal colored stripes: the top is blue , the middle is white, the bottom is yellow. In the left top corner of the flag is depicted a traditional symbol of Buryatia – “ soembo “ , symbolising the Moon, the Sun and the Hearth . The State Flag was passed in October 29, 1992. The State Emblem is represented by a 3 colored circle (blue, white and yellow) . At the top of the circle – is the golden “soembo” - the traditional symbol of eternal life (the Sun, the Moon and Hearth) .

1666 by Russian pioneer cossacks . At present it is a big modern city 220 km east of Irkutsk , with 400000 people living in it . Verkhneudinsk ( the old name of the city before 1934 ) was on the old Silk Road to the east and developed as a trading post in gold, silk and chinaware. Before the Revolution it had only ten stone buildings, with two of them were prisons.

an important effect on Buryat people way of life, customs and traditions and connected with folk music .Dance is an integral part of folk presentations at holiday and fairs . In 1956 the first Buryat choreogra phy college was opened in ULAN –UDE, the capital of the Republic . Graduates of this college dance in many dance collectives of Russia and Buryatia too.

Education development in today’s Buryatia has been and is connected with Russia. The first national college was founded in February 13,1793. It was the start of education development in Buryatia. When the Republic was founded in 1923 there were only 23 comprehensive schools with 2100 pupils. Today 193 schools where more than 89000 children operate in Buryatia, teaching staff amounts to10300 specialists.

in Ulan- Ude . It is the heart of town. The monument to V.I. Lenin by Neroda is a striking example of Soviet architecture . The pedestal is 6.3 metres high . The monument itselt is 7,5 metres high .

October, on the 5th of November in 1967 , a monument to the soldiers of the Second World War was opened with T-34 tank .
