Rodionovo – Nesvetaysky district during
the Great Patriotic War
From July 1942

to February 1943 our district was occupied by the Nazis. Our armies fought the invaders at the Bolshoy and Maly Nesvetay, Bolshiye Saly and Chaltyr. In those days our people showed heroism. They hid and treated wounded red army soldiers, and buried the weapons. Fascists «fought» with the non – military population of the USSR, burned houses with people, sheds with cattle. Villagers bravely fought on the fronts, in partisan groups, in the underground movements.

The Fascists caused enormous damage. They burned 840 houses of the 2000 in our village, and 4000 villagers became homeless... The Nazis destroyed a regional cultural center, printing house, secondary school, state Bank, district hospital, the building of the Communist party. Despite the great destruction our workers tried to do everything to restore the national economy and actively help the front.
