The origin of its name is connected with the native princes Serkizov, entered the Russian service of the Golden Horde in the period of the great Moscow Prince Dmitry Donskoy. Up to the XVI(sixteen) century the Serkizov owned these lands. Then the village entered the palace department.

The new owner of Cherkizovo
Prince Michael Cherkassy became in 1689, one of close to Tsar Peter the First. A stone manor house was built , Linden Park and Fruit garden were planted. With the name of his grandson, Prince Pyotr Borisovich Cherkassy connected the history of three temples: Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin, Church of the Dormition, the Church of Saint Nicholas.

in parts in 1861. From the rich once the estate remained only two outhouses. The merchant Khludov bought one part in 1878. And the second, in the churchyard Starky, a famous Moscow doctor Vasiliy Dmitrievich Shervinsky. bought in 1892. This wing belonged to his family until 1962.

critic, author of books for children. One of the most masterly Soviet poets and translators. The name of the younger son of Professor Shervinsky - the poet and translator Sergey Shervinsky linked rich literary history of Cherkizovo. Sergey Vasilievich knew seven foreign languages and became famous master of poetic translation.

In the 1930s, not far from the
Nikolskaya Church poets and translators Alexander Kochetkov, Vera Merkurieva rented a cottage. This literary society Sergey Shervinsky called “Kolomenskaya anomaly”. Evenings in the park or in the Shervinsky terrace passed literary reading, poetic meetings.
