on public life very hard. So, at the end of the 30-es jazz-fans have created the first subculture called “zooties”. This name came from the collocation “zoot suit”.

French Revolution, most of white men population in the West started to wear a strict and businesslike costume, as a challenge to all frivolous and experimental. It is interesting, that a German writer J.Flegel used the term “Great Male Failure” for such phenomenon.

In March 1942 the law about wool costs reduction for

men`s suits was accepted, so the wearing of zoot-suit was an unpatriotic, outlaw. The culture of Zooties gets a second breath. Rebels ignored this law, orded new things, and at the same time a lot of newspapers condemned them in an indifference to war.
