weak men and women fighting for the overall good, monsters, creatures from an unknown world.
Greek Mythology is the body of all the legends, stories and myths created by the ancient Greeks, and it used to be the basis of their spiritual and religious believes, and cult practices.

Ancient Greeks believed that their Gods had enormous powers, and that
they were able to control nature in all its forms.
The interesting part is that it was Greeks themselves who appointed all this power to their Gods, yet, they were full of respect and fear for them.

The oldest sources of Greek Mythology are
the two epic poems written by Homer: the Odyssey and the Iliad, although the origins of the world and the vast effort to explain the nature, the surroundings and the very essence of Greek mythology itself, lies at the texts of Hesiod especially Theogony
“At the beginning, there was chaos” he said, explaining the Genesis of the world, the birth of Gods, the succession of rulers, the origins of human woes. Till today, Theogony is considered the basis of the Greek mythology, probably the most comprehensive literal creation of that time.
Later, hymns, poems, tragedies, plays, arts, artists, everyone tried to explain and reproduce the myths about the Gods, about heroes such as Hercules about important kings, such as Minos, about the wars of the gods, the wars of the people.

When Love was born, order and beauty began to flourish.
Love created Light and Day.
Earth (= Gaea) was created.
She was the solid ground, but also a personality.
The Earth bore Heaven to cover her and be a home for the gods.

poseidon’s power was the three pronged spear known as the trident.
Poseidon was often depicted riding in a chariot pulled by golden seahorses, and carrying his trident.

Hades was the god of the underworld and also wealth.
After
his brother Zeus defeated his father Cronus, the three brothers drew lots to see who would rule what parts of the universe. Poseidon was assigned as the ruler of all watery domains, Hades received all of the underworld, and Zeus received all of the heavens

She was also
considered the patroness of marriage
Although married to Zeus, their marriage was an all but faithful and happy one. Their relationship was full of many quarrels and infidelities on the part of Zeus. This often turned Hera into a vengeful woman, that was out to get revenge on anyone available.
