Слайд 6Themes of his works
They are really various. One

of the most central themes was forbidden knowledge also he used the ideas of guilt and fate in his works. Lovecraft's guiding aesthetic and philosophical principle was what he termed "cosmicism" or "cosmic horror", the idea that life is incomprehensible to human minds and that the universe is fundamentally inimical to the interests of humankind. As such, his stories express a profound indifference to human beliefs and affairs. The next one was racism. Howard held English people above all others. He paid attention to the Universe and fictional elements, such as places, names and entities

Слайд 14Although Lovecraft's readership was limited during his lifetime, his reputation has

grown over the decades, and he is now regarded as one of the most influential horror writers of the 20th century. Stephen King called Lovecraft "the twentieth century's greatest practitioner of the classic horror tale." . Much remains to be done in the study of Lovecraft, but it is safe to say that, thanks to the intrinsic merit of his own work and to the diligence of his associates and supporters, Lovecraft has gained a small but unassailable niche in the canon of American and world literature. The strong point of Lovecraft is his ability to create a special atmosphere of madness, “cosmic horror” and nightmares which human mind fail to understand
